The examination to determine a pathological deviation of the spine is very simple and it can be performed regularly by the parents themselves but also by gymnasts in school.
The examination takes only two minutes. It is made up of two partial examinations.
Observation of the child’s body, naked or with a tight T-shirt. Standing up from in front and behind, and the Bending test.
Scoliosis Test: Observation
In the Posterior standing position we can see the following points:
In the Anterior standing position we observe:
Scoliosis Test: Bending test
The child stands to attention, joins palms and bends forwards with the knees straight and reaching down with the head between the arms, without lifting the shoulders, to form almost a right angle.
We observe the child and try to note if there is asymmetry in the back with the creation of humps on the one side of the back.
If we find either the upright stance or the elevation of one of the points highlighted above, there is pelvis and/or shoulder asymmetry, or find that one or both sides of the body format humps, we should immediately visit the scoliosis center SPONDYLOS, because it is likely that the child should be monitored or treated.
